George P Martin is an artist and live performance designer, specialising in storytelling through the mediums of scenic and costume design in conjunction with music and lighting.

 

His work examines an audience's experience and perception of a piece, exploring the socio-economic and political environment in which a performance occurs.

 

Growing up in a small town near Stoke-on-Trent as a queer artist, George often felt underestimated and undermined in his creative vision; his work now celebrates diversity and what it means to be queer, pushing and celebrating themes of gender and sexuality. His work challenges stereotypes and tackles misconceptions, initiating conversation and reaction, expanding across disciplines with experience as both designer and design assistant in theatre, film and tv, with work covering set and costume design.
